The history of this Port wine dates back to the 1867 harvest at Quinta das Carvalhas, one of the most prominent estates in the Upper Douro, renowned for its beauty and the spectacular nature of its vineyards.
It is, truly, a living, hidden memory of the 19th century, preserved through time with meticulous care and almost religious devotion, initially in the cellars of the renowned firm Miguel Souza Guedes, and later, in the mid-20th century, through the incorporation of this company, entrusted to the care of successive generations of cellar masters at Real Companhia Velha.
This Port wine continued its long and patient ageing in the sumptuous cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, in casks made from the finest oak wood, until it reached perfection, standing out for its aromatic sumptuousness and unforgettable tasting dimension.
After 149 years of maturation, and in the year of the 260th anniversary of the foundation of this Pombaline Company, the fate of this wine thus intertwines with the history of the most iconic Port wine company – Real Companhia Velha – whose legacy is inseparable from the very history of Port wine itself.
